Patios and Pavers in Chilliwack

Paver and flagstone patios set on a compacted base, so they stay flat instead of sinking and lifting.

  • Paver, flagstone and natural stone
  • Excavated and compacted in lifts
  • Edge restraint so the field holds

Patios we build

Same base, different surface. The material is a look decision. What sits under it is a durability one.

Base first

A patio sinks because of what is under it

Pavers set on a thin or uncompacted base settle unevenly, open at the joints and hold water in the low spots.

We excavate to depth, compact in lifts, set the fall so water runs off, and restrain the edges so the field cannot spread.

  • Excavated and compacted in lifts, to a depth sized for what the patio has to carry.
  • Fall set across the whole surface, so water runs off instead of sitting in the low spots.
  • Edge restraint around the field, so the pavers stay tight and the joints stay closed.

Flat when we leave. Flat in ten years.

We have hired this crew for various projects on our acreage. The latest project was an equestrian riding arena, which turned out excellent. They are always willing to take on tasks and challenges with great outcome. Their operators and labourers are hard-working and willing to put in the time to get a job done.

Common questions

Pavers or poured concrete?

Pavers flex with ground movement and can be lifted and reset if anything ever needs access underneath. Poured concrete cracks instead of moving. On Fraser Valley ground, pavers on a proper base are usually the more forgiving choice.

Why do patios sink at one end?

Almost always a base problem. Either it was too thin for the load, it was not compacted in lifts, or water is sitting under it. The fix starts below the surface, not on it.

Do you do patios on a slope?

Yes. That usually means steps, a low wall or some terracing to create the flat area first, which we build as part of the same job.
